Job Description Locations in Groton, CT and Newport, RI - D445/448/449/454/702/737. Combat Systems Test Engineers apply their operational, maintenance and subject matter expertise to the development and testing of Non-Propulsion Electronic Systems (NPES) for the US Navy nuclear submarines. Leveraging the latest in state-of-the-art technologies, NPES systems are provided for Sonar, Combat Control, Ship Control, Total Ship Monitoring, Tactical and Non-Tactical Data Processing, Exterior Communications, Navigation, ESM, Radar, Imaging, Periscopes, Weapon Launch Control, and Weapons Shipping and Handling, as well as shipboard and land based trainers. Additionally, Test Engineers with SSBN or SSGN weapons systems experience support the development and testing of Strategic Weapons Support Systems (SWSS) and Attack Weapons Support Systems (AWSS). Test engineering opportunities range from initial system design through development, hardware/software integration, test, delivery and integration of the systems aboard nuclear submarines. For delivered submarines, test engineering efforts extend to the analysis and resolution of fleet identified problems, assessment of obsolescence issues and implementation of NPES modernization programs.

Four to twenty-five years experience relevant to job description. US Navy submarine experience involving the operation and maintenance of combat and weapons systems is highly desirable.
Test Engineer positions require task management skills to coordinate and direct diverse test evolutions and troubleshooting efforts. Test Engineers must possess extensive knowledge of combat and weapons systems operation and maintenance as well as familiarity with submarine construction and test philosophies.
