Job Description For Greg Angelini - D425, 427, 428, 429, 443, 446, 486 - Electrical and Engineering has openings for highly motivated Test Engineer, Sr Test Engineers or Test Engineer Specialists to support a wide variety of propulsion and non-propulsion electrical systems for multiple programs in several departments in the Electrical Design and Engineering Directorate. For Maintenance and Modernization work will focus on planning and execution support of component/system upgrades on existing ships. For Propulsion Plant Power and Distribution, work will focus on development of a state-of-the-art test facility to test the latest power distribution and motor drive technologies being considered for future Naval and propulsion plants. Tasks will include development of a program plan, test requirements, test procedure development, problem identification and resolution and shipboard integration. For VIRGINIA Class, work includes on construction support of power conversion and instrumentation and control equipment, as well as test procedure development for new technology insertions and cost reduction efforts. For OHIO Replacement HM&E, work will focus on operational, maintenance and subject matter expertise for the development and testing of multiple complex electrical systems for the US Navy nuclear submarines. Test engineering opportunities range from initial system design through development, hardware/software integration, test, delivery and integration of the systems aboard ship. For the 688CL MTS Conversion Program, work will focus on their operational, maintenance and subject matter expertise to the development and testing of Prototype Specific and Propulsion Plant Systems. Test engineering opportunities range from initial system design through development, hardware/software integration, test, delivery and integration of the systems aboard US Navy nuclear submarines.
An Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field is preferred, with field service, engineering, management experience or naval operational experience with submarine electrical systems highly desirable.
Fifteen years experience of electric plant operation/maintenance on a naval combatant, or ten years experience of field service work with an AS is preferred.
Candidates must be highly motivated, work independently, and be willing to interact with other engineering disciplines and the design community. The candidates should have above average written and oral communication skills.
